AAAA Records
Discover just what an AAAA record is really, precisely when it’s utilized and if you need to put in place one for your domain.
AAAA is a domain address record, that's essentially the IPv6 address of the web server in which the domain is hosted. The IPv6 system was introduced to replace the current IPv4 system in which every IP comprises of four sets of decimal digits which range from 1 to 255 e.g. 5.168.208.143. However, an IPv6 address includes 8 groups of 4 hexadecimal digits - from 0 to 9 and from A to F. The reason for this transformation is the tremendously smaller selection of unique IPs which the current system supports and also the quick increase of units which are connected to the Internet. An example of an IPv6 address is 2101:1f34:32e2:2415:1365:4f2b:2553:1345. If you want to direct a domain address to a machine that uses this sort of an address, you will need to create an AAAA record for it, not the widely used A record, which is an IPv4 address. The 2 records provide the same exact function, but different notations are used, in order to differentiate the two forms of addresses.

AAAA Records in Shared Web Hosting
If you want to create a new AAAA record for any domain or subdomain hosted in your shared web hosting account, it won't take you more than a few basic steps to do that. Our in-house built Hepsia CP is very intuitive to use and it will allow you to set up or edit every single record without difficulty. Once you log in and visit the DNS Records section, where you can find all existing records for your domain names and subdomains, you'll just have to click on the "New" button, choose AAAA from a small drop-down options menu in the pop-up that will show up, enter or paste the necessary IPv6 address and save the change - it's as basic as that. The new record will be fully working within a maximum of 1 hour and the hostname that you have created it for will start opening whatever content you have with the other company. If needed, you will also be able to modify the TTL (Time To Live) value, which shows the time in seconds which the new record will be live after you eventually change it to something different or you simply erase it.
- AAAA Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting
As our sophisticated cloud hosting platform supports AAAA records, you'll be able to create one effortlessly for every domain name or subdomain you host inside a semi-dedicated server account from our company and the new record is going to propagate within the hour, so that you can start using the services of any other provider you point the domain/subdomain to right away. You can create the record from the DNS Records section of your Hepsia hosting CP in which you will also find all the other records that were set up automatically or you have set up manually previously. The set up of the new AAAA record is as basic as choosing the needed Internet domain or subdomain and the AAAA type via simple drop-down menus, inputting the IPv6 address inside a text box and saving the modification. You'll be able to change the record at any time if required. In case the other service provider demands a certain TTL value for the new record, you will be able to change this setting also. The Time To Live option determines how long an existing record will keep functioning after you modify it or delete it and the time is in seconds. - AAAA Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting
